All about Mysore Palace, Mysore, India.

The Mysore Palace was the royal residence of the Wodeyar Dynasty who ruled over the State of Mysore. Battles withe enemies and attacks from the Gods of Nature time and again brought the Palace structure down, but it rose again and again.

The majestic splendour that is the Mysore Palace today is open for viewing to the public on a daily basis. The first aspect that catches the tourist's eyes are the pink-tinged domes, the soaring tower and the beautiful arches at the entrance. Step inside to be awed by numerous pavilions. Both kids & adults will be held spellbound by the Doll's Pavilion, the Marriage Hall, and, most majestic of all:the Diwan-e- khas. It is here that you realise the need to leave your footwear outside: the floor is inlaid with gemstones! Another reason to go around barefoot is the presence of temples within the Palace grounds. The crowning glory of the royal glitter is the Royal Throne made of 200kgs.of pure gold;it can be viewed during the Dassehra Festival.
