Karnataka Higher Education Minister Dr. and Professor Vs Acharya's complete name is Vedavyas Srinivas Acharya.is a senior BJP leader of Karnataka state. Formerly Karnataka Higher Education minister Prof and Dr. VS ACHARYA had served as minister of medical education and animal husbandry in the BJP-JDS coalition government. Karnataka Minister Vs Acharya is a native of Udupi district in Karnataka. Karnataka Minister VS Acharya was born in the year 1939 in Udupi district!Karnataka Minister VS Acharya's Parents are Katte Vyasa Acharya,who was a great vidwaan and a Sanskrit scholar and Smt Krishnaveni Amma. Karnataka Minister VS Acharya finished his Medical education in KMC Manipal in the year 1959. Also Karnataka Minister VS Acharya got the Best Alumini award twice when he was doing medical in KMC college.

Karnataka minister Prof and Dr. VS acharya started his political career from the Bharatiya Jana Sangha (predecessor of Bharatiya Janata Party ). Karnataka Minister VS acharya was elected as the most Youngest Municipal President of Udupi (served for 28 years)in the year 1968.Also,Karnataka Minister VSAcharya got a new Water Supply system as Swarna Water Supply System in the his municipality and also set up a Municipality administrative building.Roads were widened and edge to edge tarmac was laid under Karnataka Minister VS Acharya's guidance.He also brought Town Planning Authority for planned development.
Underground drainage system. Karnataka Minister also banned Hand carrying soil in the country for the first time.This was the first ever win and a spectacular success of elected body in South India by the Bharat Janata Dal(BJP) party!Karnataka Minister VS Acharya during the emergency period was imprisoned under ‘MISA’ for 19 months, for fighting for social justice. Karnataka Minister VS Acharya was elected as a member of the Karnataka legislative assembly (M.L.A) in 1983. Karnataka Minister VS Acharya has been a member of legislative council (M.L.C) of Karnataka state since 2002.
