India won the ICC world cup for the second in 2011 thanks to the excellent and wonderful teamwork by all the members. Probably team India was not the favourite at the beginning of the tournament. Even at the league stage their performance was moderate. They began the torunament with a bright note by avenging the defeat against Bangladesh last time. Veerender sehwag warned the bowlers all over the world with his blazing 175 while Virat Kohli created history by scoring a century in his very first world cup match. But the bowling was surely not upto the mark as the hosts managed a decent 283 to avoid heavy defeat. Then after that India played miserably against both England and South Africa. In both the cases after getting great start the the team's batting crumbled miserably and India tied against England and lost to South Africa, both of which were winning games. Then they struggled against both the minnows in the group, against Netherland and Irland. But after reaching the quarterfinals, the team played great cricket to beat three mighty sides Australia, Pakistan and Srilanka. After beating those three teams, they really deserved to lift the cup.
