B J P wins Koppal Seat in Bye ElectionThe result for the Koppal Bye-election is announced and it has gone in favour of the ruling B J P. The result would not have created any difference to the Government as they are having majority even without the seat. However, B J P can can claim that in-spite of the recent happenings through the Lokayuktha. That could have been a deterrent for the winning. But it did not affect the chances of B J P. It means either the people are happy with the things as they go on or they have no effective alternative.
In fact B J P was having lot of problems. Firstly the tainted character due the lokayukth report and the charges against the then Chief Minister, Yeddiyurappa, arrest of some of the ex ministers by C B I. Added to that the internal fight between the groups was at the peak. In the normal circumstances it would have worked against the B J P. Hence the reason is that of the other alternatives J D (S) is not considered by the people as an alternative. The congress did not come up-to their expectation and hence they did not have any option to vote the BJP to win.
