Karnataka strong man ex C M Yeddiyurappa jailedThe ex Chief Minister and the ruling party BJP's strong man in Karnataka Sri B S Yeddiyurappa is arrested and sent to judicial custody today afternoon. This is in connection with the land denotification case against filed by a private citizen in the Lokayuktha court. The court had sent summons to him to appear before the court. Mr Yeddyurappa the ex C M was avoiding with reasons given to the court. The court had issued warrant against him twice and today 3rd time rejecting his exemption from appearing petition with the medical certificate. The Lokayuktha court hearing the case rejected the request and directed the police to arrest the ex CM. By the time police went to his house, he went to the court and surrendered in the court probably to avoid the embarrassment being taken into custody by the police. The court remanded him to custody till 22nd of this month when the next hearing is posted about the bail application.
It is not clear till now as to the ground on which he is arrested. It could for not presenting in the court despite the summons in which case the case may not be very serious. If it for the offense of irregularity of the denotifcations the case may be more serious. As things stand,it could only be for the first reason. He may be able to go on appeal in the High Court on Monday.
This has happened in the background of the BJP's tallest leader Sri L K Advani's ratha yatra against corruption.
