Will the scheme of award to whistle blowers help in curbing milk adulterationWe have recently heard about rampant adulteration of milk in the country revealed by a survey. Adulteration is quite high in many states and surprisingly as high as 81% in a high milk yielding state like Punjab. Close on the heels of this survey report we also have heard about 42% children in India suffering from malnutrition. Adulterated could be the major cause as milk is the major source of nutrition for young children.
Recently, Union Health Minister has announced a scheme whereby whistle blowers would be awarded and has asked the state governments to encourage public to report about people adulterating milk. Do you think the states would be able to make use of this scheme to curb adulteration of milk?
