The issue of wildlife conservation is perhaps one of the most neglected issues in our state. Not only in karnataka, but also in entire India we can see the people's apathy about wild animals, barring some conservationists. The tigers, leopards, elephants and black bucks are in serious danger in our country due to indiscriminate hunting. This list also includes chitals, pea-fowls, bustards etc. When it comes to the issue of their conservation, the government has taken many steps to ensure that they don't go extinct, but it has not been able to remove dirty politics completely from this issue. The recently proposed tiger project had to be dropped in tarikere and surroundings. The people opposed heavily to this project and the government yielded to this pressure. But they should have taken firm decision because the conservation of tigers is the most important thing than anything else in India. The king of jungles is in serious danger than any other animal in India, probably with the exception of lion. So government should take firm steps to avoid politics creeping into the conservation issues. In this case, even though we can't say that people's opposition is not politically backed, the government should have tried to cool down them by offering them rehabilitation packages, in the same way as they are doing for the surrendered nuxalites.
