Better late than never - Welcome teeth to Fire Fighters at Bangalore

The Carlton Tragedy in Bangalore in February, 2010 has forced the government to re-examine the laws and make suitable amendments to make firemen more powerful to deal with high buildings. According to this amendment the Chief Fire Officer will have powers to inspect any multi-storied building to check the fire protection system. In the event of any shortcomings three months notice will be given to rectify, failing which the BBMP can suspend the occupancy certificate.

Bangaloreans must welcome this measure to protect the life and property in high rising buildings. KSR members may please comment.
