Do you know a part of original Lal Bagh is a crematorium and a burial ground today?

We have all heard about Lal Bagh of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan. But a study reveals that the present day Lal Bagh is not the one conceived by the two and a major portion has gone to Wilson Garden crematorium and Wakf burial ground. By superimposing the remotely sensed maps of the Garden of 1791 drawn after the defeat of Tipu Sultan on the base map of the city drawn in 1987, researchers have found the difference and this is how the present position is ascertained. Four of the five originally laid down maps of the Bagh are outside the present day garden.

KSR members who have visited Lal Bagh and the adjoining areas can visualise it better and may express their views.
