Histroy of Bagalkot district

Historically, it is the haven for the great Chalukya dynasty. Aihole is the place described as the laboratory of architecture and not a university of Indian architecture. Badami is famous internationally for its caves carved in stone, monolithic single stone in the period of Immadi Pulakeshi-I. With famous historical temples of Pattadakal temple Mahakuteshwar in Mahakuta, Shivayogmandir and Banashankari temple in Badami. Mudhole is the birthplace of the great poet "Ranna". Bilaga Galagali taluka village is famous for Galavis Maharshi. Jamakhandi was the capital during the period of "Patawardhana" Kingdom.

Kudalsangam is the palce where the social revolutionary nobleman of the 12th century "Basavanna" was educated. The galaxy Sharana's lived in this Holy Land is itself a matter of pride.
