Karnataka Common Entrance Test(CET)


CET the Karnataka Common Entrance Test, Some basic information related to CET.

The month January has started, this is the time to celebrate Exam festival for Students especially for SSLC and PUC. Next to their Board Exams, they will think of CET the Karnataka Common Entrance Test, which is conducted every year to get admission in undergraduate medical, dental, engineering and architecture courses in the universities and colleges in Karnataka.
Here, I would like to give some basic Information about CET.

Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) conducts this CET Exam every year in the month of August. Karnataka CET papers are in four subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.

Students who seek Admission for Engineering should prepare Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, for Medical and Dental they should be well prepared in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects. The students who seeks admission in B. Arch must have given NATA on basis admission to B.Arch is conducted.

Scheme of Examination:
There will be 60 objective type questions in each paper, the time duration for each paper is 80 minutes.

Eligibility for Medical and Dental Courses:
He or she should have passed PUC, +2 or equivalent examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects. They should have at least fifty percent of aggregate marks in physics, chemistry and biology. The age of the candidate should be 17 and not more than 25 on the date of 31st December, 2010.For SC/ST/OBC candidates 40% of aggregate marks in physics, chemistry and biology is enough.

Eligibility for Engineering Courses:
Student should have passed PUC, +2 or equivalent examination with English, Physics, Mathematics with any one of the following subject Chemistry or Bio-Technology or Computer Science/ or Electronics or Biology with 45% aggregate marks in selected subjects. In case of SC/ST/OBC 40% of marks is enough.

Eligibility for Architecture Course:
He or she should have passed PUC, +2 or equivalent examination with fifty percent aggregate marks. They should have Mathematics as one subject. For SC/ST/OBC candidates 45% of aggregate mark is enough.

Application forms:
The Application forms for Karnataka CET will be available in schools and colleges of the Karnataka CET. Students from outside Karnataka can get the forms by post from KEA, they should send Demand Draft with a request for application.

CET Date:
CET Entrance Examination will be held at the end of April, 2010. Up to February 2nd week, 2010 the applications are available. February 3rd week, 2010 is the last date for getting application by post.
CET date given above are not final it may change, so the candidates are requested to see the updates.
