On 15th January will be the First Solar Eclipse of the year 2010.

Solar Eclipse :The moon passes between the Sun and the Earth is called Solar Eclipse. This occurs on new moon day.

Solar Eclipse in Mangalore and Udupi:
Mangalore and Udupi are the places which the eclipse first begins at 11.07 a.m.

Solar Eclipse in Madikeri and Karwar:
In Madikeri and Karwar Eclipse time is about 11.09 a.m.

Solar Eclipse in Bangalore:
In Bangalore the eclipse begins at 11.16 am, it will be optimum at 1.23 pm and ending at 3.11 pm. The percentage of view will be 84 percent in Bangalore. The view will be eighty five percent in Kolar district and Ramanagara.

Hi,

The Solar Eclipse in Bangalore was from 11.15am to 3.15pm. Jawaharlal Nehru Planatarim in Bangalore had facilitated to view the solar eclipse through some of the safety devices. Even in places like Malleswaram 18th Cross playground, there were people who were facilitating the public to view the solar eclipse without any charge. There was even persons to describe about the solar eclipse.

There is a belief among people that food should not be taken during the eclipse period. Only after the eclipse gets over one has to take bath go to temple and then have food. This is a usual custom followed by majority of them.
