Location of Bankapur peacock sanctuary:
Bankapur peacock sanctuary is located in Bankapur village which is in Shiggon taluk. This sanctuary is located about 139 acres of land. This lands are the remains of historic Bankapura Fort.
The peacock sanctuary in Bankapura is the second peacock sanctuary in India, which is exclusively for the conservation and breeding of peacocks.Excellent Climate,beautiful mountain range and deep trenches are favorable for these birds life.
Peacock Life in Bankapur:
It is believed that there are more than thousand peacocks and peahens are inhabited in this sanctuary. A minimal human contribution has helped in the breeding of these peacock species. They walk freely on the four km mound and also perch on the beautiful flowering green trees.Haven of Peacock:
The officials of the Department of Veterinary Sciences have taking great care in breeding and conservation of these birds. Bankapur is considered as excellent place and safe haven for Peacocks.

There are some other type of Aves like wood pecker, kingfisher, grey hornbill, great-horned owl, nightjar, Indian robin, spotted dove, parakeets, blue tailed bee eater, blacked winged kite, babbler, magpie, robin, green bee eater, tailor bird , spotted maina are also inhabited here.
