This article gives information about paragliding activities in Karnataka, costs of paragliding training courses in Karnatka, and tips about paragliding in Karnataka.

Soaring to new heights, paragliding has become one of the favourite aspects of adventure tourism in Karnataka.

Most people are new to this flying sport. Hence, it becomes essential to know some general information and tips about paragliding in Karnataka.

1. It is necessary to be physically and medically fit before taking to paragliding in Karnataka. The minimum age limit is 15 years. Some paragliding operators in Karnataka also insist on a minimum educational qualification (Xth Std.). Due to the weight of the paraglide canopy, there is likely to be a weight limit for the individual wishing to take a paragliding course.

2. It is best not to venture out alone on a paragliding trip – this is for your own safety in case of an accident. Go in a group or arrange a paragliding session with a paragliding operator in Karnataka.

3. Some of the paragliding operators will insist that you sign an indemnity bond (you will need to get it printed on a bond paper).

4. The paragliding operator in Karnataka will not provide any insurance policy. Hence it is important to have Personal Accident Insurance and a Mediclaim Policy which covers paragliding accidents. Make sure you have these before signing up for any paragliding training course.

5. Paragliding courses in Karnataka can range from 2 to 5 days. You will not get any refund of fees if you discontinue the course in the middle.

6. The cost of paragliding training in Karnataka varies from one operator to another. The minimum fees for a paragliding course in Karnataka is Rs.10,000/-. The cost of paragliding in Karnataka with an instructor is about Rs.750/-.

7. When you are paragliding in Karnataka, you must make sure that the venue is free of power lines. Even if you feel you are in control of your flight, a strong wind could quickly push you towards the power lines thereby putting you in grave danger.

8. If you are flying solo and not in tandem with an instructor, you need to be extra careful. Karnataka has many fields of crops, where you should not land, and plenty of hills which you should avoid getting too close to.

9. Always wear suitable clothing when paragliding in Karnataka. Most instructors will instruct you to wear jeans, a long-sleeved T-shirt of a light colour, and sturdy sports shoes (preferably with high ankle support). Do not wear chains and bracelets as this could hamper movement.

10. Paragliding operators in Karnataka are unlikely to provide you with food and water so carry your own boxed lunch and bottled water.

And the question of where to go paragliding in Karnataka has an easy answer: Pargaliding in Nandi Hills is one of the best!
