Ugadi the celebration to welcome new year in karnataka. This article will put forth the procedure to celebrate Ugadi in Karnataka.

On the day of
Ugadi festival
from the time of sunrise people take bath and tie Mango leaves and Neem leaves on the door and decorate it with flowers. Women draw beautiful and big
colourful Rangoli
in front of their houses. After that all the family members pray to God and will have Neem and Jaggery mixture. The meaning for having this mixture is to prey god that their life be equal with bitter and sweet as in the mixture.
Before taking the mixture of this Jaggery and neem a shloka should be read " Shaturvajradehaya sarva sampathkarayacha sarvaarista vinashaaya nimbakam dalabakshakam".

Panchnaga
to know thier future for the year ahead.
Special food will be prepared on this festive day,
Obbatu
or
Holige
is specailly preparesd on this day and shared with all the relatives.
