The history and the birth of Karnataka is explained in this article


During the British rule,there were many Kannada speaking regions outside the Mysuru(Mysore) princely state,which was then became the languages capital.The conditions of Kannadigas was very pitiable at that time.Kannadigas living in Bombay province were forced to learn Marathi,Urdu in Hyderbad province and Tamil and Telugu in madras province.The British rulers had split up Kannada speaking regions into administrative units,including the Mysuru princely state,the territory of Kodagu,and some districts in the madras presidency the Bombay presidency and the Hyderabad state.

In 1890 all called to unification of Kannada regions and the Vidya vardhaka sangha was established in Dharwd, the Karnataka sabha in 1916 and Kannada sahitya parishat was founded at Bangalore in 1915,under the patronage of the ruler of Mysuru which turned in to a platform to push for unification at the Belgaum congress in 1924 which was held with Mahathma gandhiji as its president .Many Kannidigas gathered and got to learn about their leaders and their rich past.Here Huilgolnaryana Rao sang the Kannada anthem Udayavaagali Namma cheluva kannadanadu .The first karnataka unification conference was held at the same venue presided by sri Siddappa Kambli at the conference ,the Karnataka Ekikarana sabha which worked in collaboration with the Karnataka Pradesh was formed with goal of unification.
