Tourist places around Kundapura: Kundapuru place is about 36 km from Udupi,is also described as the 'Town of the sun". this name can be traced to the kundeshwara temple was built by kundavarma in the vicinity of the panchagangavalli river,it has another old temple that of mahalingeshwara.

Hattiangadi: Hattiangadi is about 8 kms to the north east of Kundapur. Hattiangadi is on the northern banks of the river Varahi.It is well known for its ancient ruined temples,important basadis and inscriptions.the newly renovated ganesha temple is a major tourist spot.

Basrur:7 kms from kundapura ,many temples are located here on the southern banks of river Varahi.Mahalingeshwara temple is very famous .

Hoovinakere:It is the birth place of the phiosopher Vadiraja,who preached dwaitha philosophy after madhwacharya.

Kotilingeshwara temple:it is at koteshwara 7 kms away from kundapura, a historical and religious centre.

Hosangadi:located 42 kms from kundapur ,this is the place where the varahi project site .bidanur rulers hosangadi earlier.

Kollur: Kollur is located about 45 kms from kundapur .the famous temple of goddess mookambika is located here on the top of the kodachaadri hill,at he foot of the western ghats.
