The beautiful Belur temple is aworld famous tourist place.

Belur: Belur is a small town located on the banks of the river yagachi,the most well known is the magnificient hoysala temple complex.the chenakeshava temple here was built by king vishnuvardhana in 1116 A.D the temple took 103 years to complete.The first that catches ones eye is the beautiful ornamental goparam.The god in the temple is lord keshava, the beautiful image of god stands six feet tall and it was installed in the sanctum of the main temple in the year 1117 A.D.There are about 48 pillars of various shapes and sizes ,designs bearing testimony for the remarkable artistry. One of the pillars of the temple actually revolves if pushed,the surface of the temple exterior is intricately filled with horizontal free freizes sculptured in sucession at the bottom .

Shanthala devi is one of the smooth circular platform stands the sculpture of the beautiful Shantha devi the Queen of Vishnuvarhana.There are so much statues in Belur to see. Belur is the one of the most famous temples built in india.
