Flower show 2010 in Lalbagh, Bangalore.

Every year,a flower show is organized in Lalbagh Botanical Garden by Dept. of Agriculture & Mysore Horticulture Society on the occasion of Republic Day & Independence Day. Description of 2010 flower show attractions.



Lalbagh botanical garden, Bangalore is considered to be one of the most beautiful & diverse gardens in India. It was started by Hyder Ali and was further developed by his son Tippu sultan. The Garden is spread over 240 acres and has a good collection of botanical plants & a variety of roses (from which it got the name!). A beautiful glass house that was built in the pattern of London's Crystal Palace is the center of attraction of the garden. It houses a variety of rare species of plants from many other countries. Lalbagh botanical Garden remains open throughout the year from 9 a.m to 6 p.m daily. It is accessible through 4 different gates- Main Gate, Double Road Gate, Siddapura Gate & West Gate. The Garden gets a festive look during flower shows which are organized on the occasion of Republic Day(January) & Independence Day(August) every year. The show will continue for 1-2 weeks.

This year (2010), the flower show in Lalbagh will be started on 6 August, Friday. About 260 variety of flowers from various parts of India & abroad will be exhibited. The theme of the show is historic India Gate, selected with the aim to pay tribute to freedom fighters & martyrs. The main attraction of this year's flower show will be the huge model of India Gate made with 2.5 L roses.

Entry fee in Lalbagh:

Adults - Rs.30 on weekdays & Rs. 40 on weekends.
Children - Rs.10.
Parking - Rs.150 on weekdays & Rs.200 on weekends.
Video Camera - Rs. 50.
Still Camera - Rs.20

Entry is free for joggers from 6a.m to 9a.m & 6p.m to 7p.m.
