Different types of Bus services by BMTC (Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation).

Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) offers various types of bus services which differ in the fare & comfort level. It starts from the ordinary 'Parisaravahini' buses to the high end air conditioned Volvo service 'Vajra' which offers a premium class journey to the passenger.
The bus services by BMTC are : Vayu Vajra, Vajra, BIG10, Suvarna, Pushpak & Parisaravahini

Vayu Vajra is the volvo bus service to the BIAL (Bangalore International Airport Ltd). The bus is red in color and it connects the important areas of the city with the airport. Currently Vayu Vajra is servicing to BIAL through 13 different routes . The starting points are : Gottigere, HAL Maingate, J.P.Nagar 6th Phase, Kadugodi Bus Station, H.S.R. Layout B.D.A Complex, Electronic City, Kempegowda Bus Station, MCTC Bus station, Chikkalasandra Bus stand, Kuvempu Nagar(BTM Layout). The service is open for other passengers upto Hebbal on special fare.

Vajra is also a volvo bus service introduced with the intention of encouraging the private vehicle users to decongest the roads by providing the same premium comfort level. The vajra buses are red in color & is running through almost all routes in Bangalore. This service is also available on chartered basis for high profile IT firms, State/ Govt undertakings, Hotels, Airlines etc. Different types of Vajra monthly passes are available for frequent / daily passengers like students, employees etc.

BIG10 buses ply in all the major routes in & out of the city. The bus is green/ Blue in colour depending on the route & the fare is higher than normal.

Suvarna is silver in color & is of the same class of BIG10 except it lacks A/C. It ply mainly during the peak hours of the day.

Pushpak is the normal bus with better seat & head rest and is brown in color. The bus fare is little higher than the normal.

Parisaravahini is the ordinary service by BMTC with normal fare. Currently there are more than 5400 buses servicing under this category. The destination board will be Red / Black depending on the route & destination.
