Kodachadri is wonderful place in Karnataka which is suitable for Trekking, Bird Watching & Wild life Photography.

Kodachadri is located in Hosanagar taluk of Shimoga district in Karnataka. It is 1343 meters above sea level & is the highest peak of western ghats in Shimoga. The distance from bangalore to this place is 375 km. Recently, Karnataka govt. declared the "Ambara Gudda" region (about 250 hectares) of Kodachadri as a Natural Heritage Site.

Kudachadri has always been a favorite destination of environmentalists & adventure enthusiasts. Many tourists visit this place for bird watching & wild life photography. The geographical specialities of Kodachadri makes it an ideal place for trekking. The original Mookambika temple built by Adi Shankaracharya is here. Also, you can see the "Sarvajna Peetha" of Sankaracharya on the hill. From peak, it is possible to see the sunset.

The famous Kollur Mookambika Temple is near to Kodachadri. Kodachadri has got an important place in Karnataka's pilgrim as well as tourism map.
