How to Reach Sringeri Karnataka

Sringeri can be reached via road and train from many major cities and towns in Karnataka. It is also accessible from the Mangalore Airport, but it is a better idea to fly to Bangalore, the capital city so that you can visit some of the tourist spots there and then head to Sringeri.

1. The nearest airport to Sringeri, Karnataka is the Mangalore International Airport. Formerly called the Bajpe Airport, the Mangalore International Airport is located in the town of Bajpe.

(ii) Kingfisher Airlines operates flights from Chennai & Cochin to Mangalore International Airport.

2. You can also catch a flight from most major cities in India to Bengaluru International Airport and from there travel by road to Sringeri, Karnataka.

3. How to Reach Sringeri, Karnataka by Train
The nearest railway stations to Sringeri, Karnataka are Shimoga, Birur and Kadur. All these stations are accessible from Bangalore.

Daily trains to & fro from Shimoga include the Shimogha Express and the Bangalore Express. Both are daily trains which depart at night and arrive at their respective destinations around 5 a.m. If you are based in Bangalore, you can board these trains from the Malleswaram or the Yashwantpur railway stations.

4. How to Reach Sringeri, Karnataka by Road
You can travel directly to Sringeri from Bangalore in your own or a hired vehicle. It takes about 7 to 8 hours, so it is advisable to leave early. There are also road routes from from Chikmaglur and Shimogha to Sringeri, Karnataka.

Important Note: Most of the roads are not in good condition and you will have to drive at a modest speed of about 30-35kmph. It is far better to travel to Sringeri by train or by a KSRTC bus.

5. How to Reach Sringeri by Bus
The KSRTC operates regular buses to Sringeri, Karnataka, such as from Bangalore, Shimogha, Chikmagalur, Hassan, Agumbe and Birur.
