Details regarding the first private university in Karnataka ( Azim Premji University )

The first private university in Karnataka named Azim Premji University is a project by Azim Premji Foundation. The foundation started functioning in 2001, mainly work towards improving quality of education of people in rural areas. The Azim Premji University will soon start its first academic year with 150 students & 3 Post Graduate courses which will be increased to 3,500 students in future. The 75 acres campus will be set up on Sarjapur road near Wipro corporate office.

The first 3 PG courses in Azim Premji University will be :

1. MA in Education

- Consists of specialization like education Policy, Teaching learning processes, assessment, curriculum development, pre school education etc.

2. MA in Teacher Education

- PG course for those who train teachers.

3. MA in Development Studies

- Handles subjects related to Child &Mother health, welfare, livelihood, governance etc.

The curriculum of all the courses include Theory &Practice.

Even if the admission is open to all graduates, students from rural areas will be given preference. The admission process include a Written test, Group Discussion & Interview.
