The Chief Minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa introduced today(24-02-2011) the government’s budget for the 2011-12 financial year.

Highlights of 2011 Karnataka Budget


• Rs 200 crore has been allocated for organic farming in the Karnataka Budget 2011.
• Seeds to be supplied to farmers at 50 percent subsidy
• Rs 9 crore has been allocated for Karnataka Budget 2011 to encourage paddy and sugarcane production
• Single window scheme has been declared to help farmers in Karnataka Budget 2011
• Rs 25 crore has been allocated for coconut cultivation in Karnataka Budget 2011
• More neera processing units to be set up in the Karnataka Budget 2011.
• Exemption of VAT for floriculture in Karnataka Budget 2011
• Rs 2 crore has been allocated in Karnataka Budget 2011 to combat diseases that afflict areca plantation
• Rs 10 crore has been allocated in Karnataka Budget 2011 for APMCs across the state
• Training to be given to five lakh farmers in organic farmers
• Rs 289 crore sanctioned in Karnataka Budget 2011 to improve Krishna project
• Rs 17,850 crore has been allocated in Karnataka Budget 2011 for the agricultural sector
• Rs 125 crore has been allocated for Karnataka Budget 2011 for Bio Farming and Rs 100 crore for drip irrigation
• Rs 3900 crore has been allocated for Karnataka Budget 2011 for supply of electricity to IP sets
• Better IP sets to be provided to farmers to reduce power consumption
• RS 2123 crore has been allocated in Karnataka Budget 2011 for uninterrupted power supply to farmers
• Rs 1000 crore has been allocated in Karnataka Budget 2011 for renovation of ponds and lakes
• Interest free loans has been announced in Karnataka Budget 2011 for higher education for farmer's children
• Agriculture revolving funds to be increased to Rs 1000 crore by the Karnataka Budget 2011.
• Rs 100 crore has been allocated in Karnataka Budget 2011 for small ports
• Veterinarian Colleges to be set in Gadag and Athini
• Mega dairy at Mysore, KMF will mobilise funds for this
• Rs 2.5 crore has been allocated in Karnataka Budget 2011 for prevention of epidemics
• Rs 10 crore as incentives has been announced in Karnataka Budget 2011 for fish farmingRs.2,428 cr budget allocation for health & family welfare
• Karnataka agricultural development policy to be strengthened
• World agriculture investment summit in June 2011
• New courses for diploma in agriculture
• Rs 2 lakh insurance has been announced in Karnataka Budget 2011 for farmers
• Allocation of Rs.2 crore in Karnataka Budget 2011 for treatment of HIV infected children in the State
• Increased the total annual intake of undergraduate courses in four government medical colleges at Bangalore, Mysore, Bellary and Hubli from 500 to 800 seats
• Rs.5 crore will be provided to upgrade the Rajiv Gandhi Chest Institute as a national institute by the Karnataka Budget 2011.
• An amount of Rs.5 crore will be provided for strengthening the Karnataka Institute of diabetology
• Rs.5 crore would be provided for the upgradation of Dharwad Mental Health and Neuro Sciences Institute
• An amount of Rs.5 crore will be provided to continue the Hrudaya Sanjeevani Scheme
• Allocation of an amount of Rs.25 crore to the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubli by Karnataka Budget 2011.
• Allocation of an amount of Rs.10 crore under the Ayush category, following the success of the World Ayurveda Conference held in Bangalore, the government with a view to encourage study of Ayurveda, has proposed to start an Ayurveda college, Shimoga in 2011-12
• Allocation of Rs 550 crore in Karnataka Budget 2011 for a new project of BRTS (bus rapid transit system)
