Karnataka Vangi Bath Recipe


Karnataka Vangi Bhath recipe is a tasty recipe prepared during special occasions like festivals and family functions. It is one of the special and delicious dishes prepared in Karnataka. Vangi Bhath recipe is popularly called Brinjal rice or Badnekai rice. Special Vangi Bhath masala powder is prepared by Kannada people and is used for the preparation of Karnataka Vangi Bhath Recipe. This is a type of verity rice prepared in this state.

Ingredients required for Karnataka Vangi Bath Recipe


Cooked rice 2 cups (non sticky cooked rice)
Ling green brinjals 200gm
30ml teaspoon oil
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
Fresh curry leaves as required
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
4 teaspoons of roasted groundnuts
Salt as required

Ingredients Needed for Vangi Bath Masala Powder


Pure ChillI powder
2 teaspoon of coriander seeds
1/4 teaspoon of Khas Khasea poppy seeds
1 bunch Curry leaves
1/2 cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon black gram dal
1/2 teaspoon Bengal gram
1/2 teaspoon of Fresh and grated coconut
1 Marati mokku
1 piece of cinnamon stick
2 cloves
1/2 teaspoon of sesame seeds
1/4 teaspoon of asafetida powder
2 teaspoon of oil for fry

Karnataka Style Vangi Bath Powder Preparation


Take a pan and add 1 teaspoon of oil and heat in a medium flame.
First fry the cumin seeds and coriander seeds. After these two fried half add the clove, marati mokku, curry leaves and cinnamon.
Roast the above ingredients well. Remove the pan from the heat, add red chilli powder and keep aside.
Take another frying pan and add 1 teaspoon of oil, when oil heats roast the channa dal and urad dal until in becomes golden brown. Better to roast in low flame.
Then add Khas Khasea poppy seeds and sesame seeds fry for two seconds. Then add the fresh and grated coconut, roast well to get a pleasant smell. Finally add asafetida powder.
Keep this for 30 minutes to get cool and make a fine Vangi Bhath masala Powder by grinding. You can also use the readymade brand like MTR Vangi Bhath Powder .

Karnataka Vangi Bath Recipe Easy Preparation Method


Take a frying pan or Kadai add 30ml of oil and leave it for a minute in the low flame of heat.
As soon the oil heats add mustard seeds and leave to splutter. Then add Channa dal and followed by curry leaves.
Add the brinjal (Cut the brinjals just before adding, wash and cut in to thin sized pieces) then turmeric powder, salt and roast for 20 minutes in low flame.
Brinjal should be cooked nicely then add 3 teaspoons of prepared Vangi bath masala mix well and remove the pan from the heat.
Then add the freshly cooked rice, salt and mix well. To enrich the nutrients of this recipe you can add the vegetables like carrots beans, cabbage and peas with brinjal.
Delicious Karnataka Vangi Bath Recipe is ready. You can also add peanuts to get nice flavor and taste.
