Rakshita is the daughter of Famous Kannada actress Mamtha Rao and Cinematographer B.C.Gourishankar. Unfortunately her father couldn’t see his daughter’s success due to his untimely demise. Her career in films was a good one. But she announced her retirement very early.

Kannada actress Rakshitha started her career with a Huge Kannada blackbuster movie "Appu" with Puneeth Rajkumar as the co-star. Kannada actress Rakshitha did the same role in telugu remake of "Appu" which was renamed as "Idiot" with Ravi Teja as co-star, the movie was also a big hit establishing her in telugu cinema industry also.

Kannada actress Rakshitha has also acted in many Kannada, Tamil and Telugu movies. This got her lot of fame and name.

Kannada actress Rakshitha was known for her beauty. Later in some of the movies she looked very but though her craze was not at less.

Later in some of the telugu and tamil movies she did some item numbers. Her item song with telugu superstar chiranjeevi was a great hit!
