Accidently H.D.Kumaraswamy entered to Karnataka Politics, as he had interested in film industry. There was a discussion in H.D.Kumaraswamy's family,in that discussion some one told that H.D.Kumaraswamy could not be a politician, than H.D.Kumaraswamy took that as a challenge and entered to politics, and proved that he can be politician. Initially H.D.Kumaraswamy thought to enter the politics and come back to film industry. But H.D.Kumaraswamy couldn’t able to go back to film industry.

H.D.Kumaraswamy Career in Politics

H.D.Kumaraswamy began his political career in 1994. H.D.Kumaraswamy formal political career began in the year 1996 by contesting

Kanakapura Loka sabha, in the parliament elections, in elections H.D.Kumaraswamy won the parliament seat.

In re-election again H.D.Kumaraswamy contested from Kanakapura Loka sabha in the year 1998 but H.D.Kumaraswamy failed to gain the parliament seat.

In 1999, H.D.Kumaraswamy contested from Sathanur assembly, again H.D.Kumaraswamy loosed in election.

In 2004 H.D.Kumaraswamy was elected and represented Raamnagara Assembly segment.

H.D.Kumaraswamy became the leader of Janata Dal (secular) Party immediately after resignation of H.D.Kumaraswamy brother H.D.Revanna.

H.D.Kumaraswamy became Chief Minister of Karnataka on 3rd February,2006 with the help of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by accepting the

Power sharing agreement with BJP. When H.D.Kumaraswamy formed Government, H.D.Kumaraswamy had forty two (42) MLAs with him. As per Power-sharing agreement H.D.Kumaraswamy supposed to transfer the power to BJP on 3rd October 2007, but H.D.Kumaraswamy refused to transfer the power to BJP. Finally H.D.Kumaraswamy tendered his resignation to Governor Sri.Raameshwar Thakur.

From 9th October Karnataka was put under President Rule till 8th November 2007.In 2008 Assembly elections, H.D.Kumaraswamy contested and won from Ramanagaram by defeating nearest rival candidate by more than 40000 votes,
and succeeded getting support from only 28 JDS MLAs.

H.D.Kumaraswamy is also President of the Karnataka State Unit of the Janata Dhal (Secular) since 2009.H.D.Kumarswamy became more popular to people of Karnataka especially to rurala area people by Janatha Darshana and Grama Vaastavya programmes.
