Kalakaleshwara Temple is situated on the rock hill, and the hill is about 5KM away from Gajendragada city, Gajendragada-Naragunda Road, Rona Taluk, Gadag District, Karnataka.

Kalakaleshwara Temple is very popular temple and religious place across the north Karnataka. Kalakaleshwara Temple is also known as Dakshina Kashi.
Kalakaleshwara Temple is Temple of Lord Shiva, Lord Shiva idol is situated on the top of rock hill.Lord Shiva idol is called as Udbhava Lingu . To reach main temple of Lord Shiva from the base of the hill, we need to climb around 200 steps.Kalakaleshwara Temple is also called as KALAKAPPA GUDI by local/rural peoples.Annual fair will be held in the month of Phalguna and the day of Davalana Hunnime.Kalakaleshwara Temple has got many unique features.

A small evergreen water resource out side the temple's exit which is called Anthara Gange .
Water ponds, Visitors shall rinse their face and enter in to the temple.
Two 20 Metres Deepasthambha, Stambha's light up in Kaartika Maasa.

Miracle of Kalakaleshwara Temple



Miracle will happens every year on previous day of Yugaadi, (UGADI) festival, The pujari of Kalakaleshwara Temple prepares the limestone solution for painting the temple, and he keeps the solution inside the temple along with painting brush.Next day morning, temple will be ready with painted itself, it's really miracle. Rumour is that, some daring peoples tried to reveal the miracle, but they lost their lives.

How to reach Kalakaleshwara Temple/Gajendragada



Reach Kalakaleshwara Temple/Gajendragada by BUS

Road Distance between Bangalore/Bengaluru and Kalakaleshwara Temple is approximately 390KM. You can reach Gajendragada from Bangalore/Bengaluru by Government Buses are from Private travels. From Gajendragada you need to catch bus, auto, Trax, TATA Ace (Called TUMTUM in local language), and reach to KALAKALESHWARA TEMPLE. Another option is to approach and hire a vehicle form travel agents and reach to Kalakaleshwara Temple.
The bus/auto fare from Gajendragada to Kalakaleshwara Temple is approximately 10 Rupees (max).

Reach Kalakaleshwara Temple/Gajendragada by Train

There is no railway station in Gajendragada. Nearest railway stations are

Gadag is about 40 KM from Gajendragada.
Badami Station is about 40KM from Gajendragada.

You can reach Gadag from Bangalore / Bengaluru by catching the train

After reaching Gadag, catch the Bus at Government Bus Station and reach to Gajendragada.
