Guidelines for Ganesha Immersion in Bangalore

Ganesha festival is one of the important festivals in India. Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has announced certain guidelines for immersion of Ganesha idols in various places. This article provides information on the places where it has to be immersed.

Guidelines for Ganesha Immersion in Bangalore

The BBMP has issued guidelines for immersion of Ganesha idols for this year. For immersion of the idols, BBMP has announced four lakes namely Halasur Lake, Sankey Tank, Yediyur Lake and Sanegurvanahalli tank. These have been provided with special tanks for the immersion of idols. In addition, 26 immersion spaces have been designated in the newly added BBMP areas for the same purpose. BBMP has provided 63 mobile tanks for immersing smaller idols. Entry to the lakes will be earmarked and all the idols are to be immersed at the designated areas only. Bursting of crackers or using loudspeakers near the tanks have been banned. The BBMP has provided containers at the entrance of the tank areas where the citizens have been requested to dispose of flowers and other puja material. Immersion of Ganesha idols after 10.30 pm at the designated areas are not allowed. It is also not allowed to avoid idols coated with oil paints and other polluting materials. In association with local NGOs it has also stationed lifeguards in all the lake areas to address concerns on safety. The authorities will co-ordinate with the City Police for safety and also to ensure adequate illumination and barricades at the immersion spots.
