Kannada Actress Genelia was born on 5 August in the year 1987 in the country called England to a Mangalore based Catholic family. Kannada Actress Genelia's parents are Jeanete and Neil.Kannada Actress Genelia has one sibling who is older than her.

Kannada Actress spent her childhood in Mumbai in Maharashtra a country in India even though she was born in England. Kannada Actress Genelia school days were spent in Apostolic Carmel High School, Mumbai while she spent her college days at St.Andrews College to pursue a degree in management studies in Mumbai only.

Kannada Actress Genelia got into with commercials in the age of 15,like Parker pen with Great Hindi Actor Amitabh Bacchan and Fair & Lovely with Famous Indian Cricketer Krishnamachari Srikanth from which she got lot of fame in the industry.

When Kannada Actress Genelia got the first role that is in the Hindi flick, Tujhe Meri Kasam, she did not agree spontaneously.This is because she did not want a career in Film industry. But due to the force of the crew of Hindi film,Later the Famous Tamil director, S. Shankar, liked her performance skill in the Parker Pen commercial and decided to cast her in a leading role in film Boys in Tamil in the year 2003. Later she got the chance in telugu movie Sumanth opposie of Sumanth.

D'Souza's professional movie career began,with her Bollywood or Hindi film debut Tujhe Meri Kasam in the year 2003. The movie was a big flop in bollywood. Following her poor debut in Bollywood, she decided to act in South Indian films. Later the same year, she made her Tamil movie debut as the girl friend of hero as Harini which was one of the lead roles in Boys, a story about five boys having the fantasy for girls and sex.
Later in the year 2004 appeared in her second Bollywood movie that is Masti. This hindi mainly concentrates on three best friends who reunite after three years, but are now married and are being harassed by their wives. Kannada Actress genelia played one of the roles! Later she was featured in Telugu movies like Samba opposite of junior ntr and Sye opposite of nitin both saw a huge in the telugu film industry

Kannada Actress Genelia was recognized for her performance in Bommarillu in the year 2006 with several awards. The movie was remade successfully in Tamil as Santosh Subramaniam (2008).

In the year 2008 saw her trying to pave her way into Bollywood in Priyadarshan's Mere Baap Pehle Aap and the year's hit Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. The movie which was the debut of Aamir Khan's nephew Imran Khan received a lot of publicity and her role as the unrestrained Meow shined through.

Following this success, Genelia was seen in Shasirekha Parinayam, Life Partner and Katha in the year 2009.

She then played the role of Haasini in the Telugu film, Bommarillu, which also starred Siddharth Narayan in the lead. This movie was one of the biggest hits in her career and earned her critical acclaim and wide recognition. She won the Filmfare Award as the Best Actress for her performance, besides other awards. Her character of Haasini earned rave reviews and this made her the favourite choice for that role in the remakes of Bommarillu in other languages. It was remade in Tamil as Santhosh Subramaniam in which Genelia was cast as heroine again. The film also turned out to be rather successful as its predecessor. Her debut film in Kannada Satya In Love grossed 4 crores in its opening week thus setting a new record in the Kannada film industry.

Kannda Actress Genelia once again appeared in Bollywood in Mere Baap Pehle Aap alongside Akshaye Khanna, which was moderately successful. Her career in south India also continues with she reigning as a successful star in Telugu film industry. Her latest Telugu film Ready in which she was paired opposite Ram was a super hit. Her next film was Life Partner with Fardeen Khan which was moderately successful. It's My Life, which is again a remake of Bomarillu with Harman Baweja which was to release in 2009 will now release sometime in 2010. She will also act in David Dhawan's next film which is called Hook Ya Crook opposite John Abraham and Shreyas Talpade. The film will be released in March 2010. She is now the brand ambassador of the new Fanta replacing Rani Mukherjee. She is also now the brand ambassador of chocolate Perk replacing Preity Zinta. She has acted in the lead female role in Ram Charan Teja's movie named as Orange being directed by Bommarillu Bhasker. Kannada Actress Genelia has also signed a Tamil film opposite Dhanush which would be the Tamil remake of her Telugu film Ready.Kannada Actress Genelia also became a host of a show called Big Switch based on slum kids for UTV Television to reach a bigger audience.
