When will be the Metro smart card for Banglore be available?
The good news is that the honorable CM of Karnataka, Mr. Sadananda Gowda has announced that the facility will be available before the start of this month and reports say that services should start from 25th September. On September 2 he became the first person to buy the Namma Smart card from Vidhana Soudha. Here he also did the inauguration of the travel card besides announcing the availability of a website where passengers can buy the card online. Besides these he also told that the card can be recharged at Airtel retail outlets which will also serve as helplines.
CM Gowda has expressed confidence that PM Manmohan Singh will arrive on 25th September for the inauguration of the service.
First phase of the Banglore Metro trip
The first phase officially referred to as Reach-1 is from MG Road to Byappanahalli. The authorities are highly hopeful for a glitch less ride for the passengers from the day 1.
How to get the Metro smart card?
BMRCL has provided the option to get the cards either from the any mobile retail shop of Airtel (not exclusively Airtel shop) or the other way of
getting the eSmart card for Banglore
is through State Bank of India. The smart card being offered by SBI can also be used as a debit card thus providing an in-house technology. These cards will be initially provided to all Banglore SBI customers and will be soon available at all Indian SBI branches.
If you already are a SBI debit card holder
then you can get an additional card for metro purpose or rather you can surrender your debit card and avail the combo card.
From where to recharge these eMetro Smart card of Banglore?
Mobile retail shops of Airtel will recharge these cards like any other prepaid mobile phone connection. Otherwise if you have a SBI smart card then these can be charged from ATM, mobile and internet banking apart from cash. There will also be counters at the metro stations for top up purposes.
For
recharging your Metro smart card from an ATM
do the following:
Dip in the card
Select services
Enter the PIN
Select 'BMRCL top up'
Enter the 11-digit card number
Select the top up amount and confirm
The minimum top up amount is Rs.100 and maximum is Rs.1000
How to use the eMetro Smart card?
The card has been designed to provide services based on two systems:
Vanshik
Sanchar
The
Vanshik scheme of Metro Smart Card
is the flexible service allowing you travel between any statios of the Metro service of Namma Bengaluru.
The
second section of the Metro Smart Card system named Sanchar
is a rigid system where the passenger has to select a fixed number of trips between two stations.
