Purana story about Durga Parameshwari Temple

God Durga killed Shumbha and Nishumbha in battlefield.

Arunasura is one of ministers in that battlefield and saved his life and became the leader of rakshasas. He start to trouble to devas and holy people . so devas stop their responsibility like rain and cultivation. So earth became unstable of food and water.
Saga Jabaali decided to yagna for please the God. So for his saga he need a holy cow kamadhenu. But kamadhenu is involved some other yagna so she send her daughter nandini who was equally good as her mother kanadhenu. But nandini is refused to go with jabaali so he cursed nandini to born as river on earth . Later nandini released for his mistake and asked forgiveness of his act then jabaali is advised her to pray to Goddess durga to redeem herself from his curse.

Durga appeared in front of him and given cure of his curse. So that nandini is born as river in earth and cured people curse and God Durga born as child of Nandini in middle of river to cure her curse and attain him purification.

Temple architecture

The main God in the temple is the Durga Parameshwari. Surrounded by Saahtara(Ayyappan And Ganesh. Brahama and Chamundi also Main God here

How to Reach
By Train : The Railway station Mangalore central is about 26 Km which is in the heart of Mangalore city, Surathkal is about 20 Km, Mulki is about 14 Km.
By Road : The district is well connected to other places by road, All nooks and corners of the district could be reached by bus.
