Dasara Special Obbattu Recipe

Dasara special is none other than traditional Kannada recipe that is Obattu. There is no person who does not love obattu. It tastes very good with ghee and served hot! So give a try and learn how to do it!!


OBATTU Karnataka Traditional Recipe :




Ingredients to make Obattu :



1.Chana dal -1 cup

2.Jaggery- 1 cup

3.Cardamom -1 tea spoon

4.Maida/All purpose flour- 1 1/2 cup

5.Turmeric Powder -a pinch

6.Wheat sooji(rava)- 2 tea spoons

7.Oil- 1 tea spoon

8.Salt-a pinch


Method to prepare Karnataka Traditional Recipe Obattu :




Obattu



1.Cook Chana dal in a pressure cooker. Drain all the water from it.

2.Cook the Chana dal mixed with jaggery for 10 minutes. Grind without using water.

3.Add cardamom powder and mix well with hand to get a smooth mixture.

4.Mix maida with sooji, turmeric powder, and salt. Add water,oil and make a dough. Cover and keep aside for 1 hour.

5.Take a ball of dough and spread with hand. Keep a ball of chana dal mixture and cover with the dough and seal the ends as shown in the picture.

6.Apply oil to a plastic paper or a banana leaf, keep the ready ball on it and roll it like chapathi . The plastic or the leaf and oil prevents it from sticking.

7.Fry on hot pan or tava till it gets golden brown color.

8.Later serve hot with ghee or hot milk!
