B.S.Yeddyurappa biography and profile



B.S.Yeddyurappa, a native of Mandya district, Bookanakere village, Krishnarajpet taluk is the son of Shri Siddalingappa, a farmer and Smt. Puttatayamma belonging to lingayat community. He was born on 27th February 1943. He has two brothers, two sisters. B.S. Yeddyurappa has completed his bachelors in arts at Bangalore. B.S.Yeddyurappa always kept up a smiling face from the starting of his political career and even till the judgement on his arrest was announced. He is a good public speaker.

Political career of B.S.Yeddyurappa :


At the initial age of 15 years itself, he had contacts with RSS and started his first step towards service. His initial work area was Shimoga where he started working for a sangha in 1965. He was also the Sangha Karyavahaka at Shikaripura taluk, Shimoga district, Karnataka.

1. Taluk president of Janasangha in Shikaripura taluk, Shimoga district,Karnataka in 1972.
2. Director of Veerashiava co-operative society, Shikaripura taluk in 1974.
3. Town municipality member of Shikaripura taluk in 1975.
4. In 1977 he became Municipality member and was elected as Janatha party president.
5. He was elected to Karnataka legislative assembly four times successively.
6. Opposition leader in the Legislative Assembly
7. He became Bhartiya janata party president , Karnataka in the year 1988 and secondly during 1998-99.
8. National secretary, Bharatiya janata party in 1992.
9. He was elected as a member of legislative council from 2000-2004.

When and how, political career of CM. B.S. Yedyyurappa came to an end :-


On 3rd February 2006, he was elected as Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka in the coalition Government of JDS and BJP. He took over the post as Chief Minister of Karnataka finally on 30th May, 2008. He presented two budgets successfully. He struggled to prove his majority in the parliament a few times and succeeded.

The Karnataka Lokayukta report of mine scam, land scam using Chief Minister's powers for unfair allotment of the prime land at Bangalore and Shimoga in the name of his sons draws the curtains to the political career of B.S. Yedurappa as Chief minister, who had to finally give up his post and hence resigned on 31st July 2011.

B.S.Yeddyurappa's personal life :


His family consists of his wife Maitradevi (daughter of Veerabhadra Shastri's -Shankar rice mill where B.S. Yeddyurappa worked as a clerk). He has two sons- Raghavendra and Vijayendra and three daughters-Arunadevi, Padmavathi, Uma devi.

B.S. Yedyyurappa's role as farmers leader:-


Sri. Yedyyurappa's concern for farmers helped in getting money for the bonded labourers. He fought for the farmers who did not have lands. He was a single man army for getting the details of the drought situation at Shikaripur taluk in the year 1987 and drought relief measures were taken immediately. He was the one who urged the Government to waive off the loans of the farmers and to hold panchayat elections. Bharathiya janata party was recognized as farmers party during his period. Farmers loan was given at 3% interest rate during his role as Chief minister.

Other initiatives of B.S. Yedyyurappa:-
Bhagyalakshmi scheme was introduced by him for the upliftment of girl child, of the family with a BPL ration card. A bond of one lakh, which can be taken at the time the girl comes to majority is the key financial aid in this scheme.

Sandhya surkasha pension scheme for senior citizens, distribution of free bicycles to 8th standard students from BPL ration card families.

Note: BPL ration card is issued to those persons who are below poverty line and their income is less than Rs. 433.00 per month (approx).
