Childhood and Early Days of Aishwarya Rai
Aishwarya Rai was born 1-11-1973 in a Bunt Family (Rais and Shettys) Mangalore, Karnataka to Krishnaraj Rai, a Marine biologist and Brindya, a housewife. Her elder brother Aditya Rai is an engineer in Merchant Navy. He has produced one of her films. When she was young girls, the family shifted to Bombay and studied in Arya Vidya Mandir High School and at Jai Hind College for one year and later in D G Ruparel College in Matunga a suburb of Bombay. In HSC she secured 90% marks. She had learned classical music and dance for some time. While she was growing in Bombay, she was having the desire to become an architect and joined the Raheja College. But her fate had something else in store for her. Because of her extremely beautiful look modeling companies were after her. In the year 1994 at 21 she entered in contest for Miss India and later in Miss World. She was crowned as the Miss World. This crown opened to her the door for movie career along with lucrative assignments in modeling.
Her Achievements in the Glamour World
In the Modeling career she became the face for multi nati0onal companies like Pepsi, Coke, Longines and L'Oreal. Her pictures were regular feature in the face covers of top magazines of the world like the Vogue and Hello etc. With her popularity increasing Aishwarya Rai started getting chances for famous talks hosted by international celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and David Letterman. In her career she got offers for several international movie projects including the famous films The Last Legion and Pink Panther 2, Mistress of Spices, Bride and Prejudice etc. Though these films did not become great success she got the status of an international star. In India she was a roaring success in Bollywood, Tamil, Kannada etc. Her debut film in movie career was in the Tamil film Iruvar (two persons) under the great film maker Mani Ratnam. The movie was success and Aishwarya's performances were highly appreciated. She became an instant success in the Hindi films and her notable films are Taal, Devdas, Chokher Bali, Umrao Jaan, Guru, Hum Dil De Chuke Sana m and Raavan. Of course like most of the celebrities she had her flops also with the successful movies. Till now she is one of the most popular personalities on the Indian silver screen. She is maintaining her body in trim condition is envy even to many of the new celebrities. She has acted over 40 films in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Bengali languages.
Awards & recognitions of Aishwarya Rai
Twice she got the Filmfare Award and 11 times her name was there for the award. Besides this she had several awards from various film awards both in India and abroad.
The Government of India awarded the Padma Shri award in 2009 in recognition of her contribution in cultivating spreading the Indian culture.
Those who are internationally famous will have their life like wax figures on display at the Madame Tussaud's museum. She was the second to get this recognition from the Bollywood world. The first is her famous father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has maintained her mystique even after years in the glamour world. And that's certainly an achievement in a world where fame is often very fickle.

On 20 April 2007 Miss Aishwarya Rai became the Mrs. Aishwarya Rai Abhishek Bachchan. On 16 November 2011 she has become the mother of a baby girl, the 9th Bachchan in the family.
