Gol Gumbaj the very beautiful monument is located in Bijapur Karnataka. The word Golgumbaz literally signifies the dome shaped Monument was built by Mohammed Adil Shah in 1627-56 AD. He was the 7th king of the kingdom. It was assembled at his briefings before his death by the popular architect Yaqut of Dabul. It was the yearn of the king towards construct a mausoleum parallel towards the Ibrahim Rauza, the tomb of his parent (father) Ibrahim Adil Shah II. It was an outstanding tomb in composition and decoration.

Later Golgumbaz mausoleum was covered into a historical monument. The foundation of the dome is carved with exquisite petals that cover the outer dome. The diameter of the mausoleum from exterior side is virtually 45 m and attains the elevation of 28.1 m from an oval platform. The total elevation of the mausoleum from the base to the tip from exterior is 59 m.
Golgumbaz Monument is considered as Bijapur's beautiful architectural treasures. Despite its unfinished relative standing, the unquestionable stateliness of the structure makes sightseers awestruck.
