This article is about the news of Karnataka CM, Sadananda Gowda, winning the LC by-poll elections. The Karnataka Assembly Legislative Elections are an important part of Karnataka State politics. The assembly had 225-members , BJP(120 members including the Speaker), Congress (71) JDS (26), seven independent members and one nominated member.

DV Sadananada Gowda, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, won the byelection to the Legislative Council on Thursday, December 22, 2011. After JDS chose to restrain, he won by a comfortable margin of 54 votes by defeating Congress candidate Anand Gaddadevaramath. The Bengaluru (Bangalore) Assembly Complex was the location of this election.

Out of the 199 votes polled in the election, Gowda secured 123 votes while Anand got 69 votes and seven votes were declared as invalid. The JDS group of 26-members restrained from voting, which ensured an easy win for Gowda.

Within six months after becoming CM, Mr Gowda who is a Lok Sabha Member representing Chikmagalur-Udupi constituency, had to be elected to either house of the State Legislature.

In the assembly of 225-members , BJP has 120 members including the Speaker, Congress has 71, JDS 26, seven independent members and one nominated member.

Mr Gowda cruised to a comfortable victory despite fears of supporters of former Minister Gali Janardhana Reddy.
