The great chitradurga fort

Readers of karnatakaspider,I like to share about my native place the great Chitradurga Fort,also called as 7 hills(ಏಳು ಸುತ್ತಿನ ಕೋಟೆ).It is the best tourist place in Chitradurga.This fort sits on the top of a hill overlooking the flat surrounding land in Chitradurga District. It is 200 kilometres from Bangalore in the state of Karnataka. Its architecture is defensive in design. Seven walls encircle it, each wall has a gate with an uphill approach through twisting, turning passways too narrow for their attackers to use elephants or battering rams to assault the gates.

The ruler of Nayakas, Madakari Nayaka used the Chitradurga Fort in Karnataka mainly for defense purpose.But when they were defeated by Hyder Ali in(i dont know the year)the grand structure was occupied by Hyder Ali.
Especially madakari nayaka's wife OBAVVA, like Kittur Rani Chennamma remains a legend, especially to the woman of Karnataka.

The surrounding of the fort complex on the hill is the hub of many temples. Among them the Ekanatha Temple, Hidimbeshwara Temple and Chandravalli Caves and Jogimatti sceenres are really worth visiting. Other places of interest around the Chitradurga Fort in Karnataka are as follows:

Brahmagiri
Nayakanakatte
Vanivalas Sagar
Jogimatti
Chandravalli.
