SJMIT is located in Chitradurga district called as Fort city ,which is a co-educational college for engineering, diploma. SJM Institute of technology (SJMIT) was established in the academic year 1980-81, with blessings of then president of SJM Vidyapeetha Sri Mallikarjuna Murugharajendra Mahaswamiji. Located just adjacent to the National Highway-4, SJMIT has a clean green campus with all facilities spread over a vast area of 35 acres.
The college is recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi, approved by Govt. of Karnataka and affiliated to Visveswariah Technological University (VTU) Belgaum.SJMIT is one of the authorized institute to transfer the courses offerd by VTU and Center for the development of Advanced computing,govt of India. The institute is reinforced with experienced, highly qualified and dedicated faculty in all braches, labs, computer center and Library for the academic development of the students. Other facilities like boys hostel, separate girls Hostel, Play grounds, indoor games, gymnasium, reading rooms, canteen and other student requirements also exist in the campus.

Science and Technology Entrepreneurs' Park of our institution (SJMIT-STEP) is sponsored by the department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Karnataka was established in the year 2000.

Objectives of SJMIT-STEP

•To serve as Technology transfer Center through Product Development Programs.

Placements in SJMIT

SJMIT equipped with a placement cell in the campus that takes care of arrangement of various job opportunities for the candidates in their respective fields. Students are intimated about the schedule of interviews as per the company's visits held in the campus or off campus. It also provides support to the students about how to face the interviews, written tests, group discussion, task handling etc. These are considered as regular activities for the students of pre-final and final year.

EXTRA CURRICULUM ACTIVITIES

There is a Outdoors sport ground, indoor games, gymnasium for students. SJMIT Reading rooms, canteen, bakery lounges to relax is also provided in the campus. There is college bus facility to transportation from campus to city. To give a thorough extracurricular training, a three days sports and cultural festival is conducted in the name of SPOORTHI where the students sharpen their moods and stimulate their energy.
Also there are NCC and NSS units to develop a sense of discipline.
