St. Mary's Island is located at a distance of 6 km from Udupi and 65 km north of Mangalore. St. Mary's Island is a collection of small islands in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Malpe in Udupi district.

St. Mary's Island is located at a distance of 6 km from Udupi and 65 km north of Mangalore. St. Mary's Island is a collection of small islands in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Malpe in Udupi district. St.Mary's Island beach is special for the unique formation of small and huge good looking rocks which split into columns and split into different shapes.

We have to reach St.Mary's Island only by boat in malpe fishing harbour near udupi.It is a boat which carries 70-100 peoples.It takes about 20-30 min to reach the Island by boat.

This St.Mary's Island has history that Vasco da Gama who descended on these islands in 1498 before he reached Calicut.And then ther are lot of beautiful and big coconuts in the island,so it is also called as COCONUT Island.

St.Mary's Island is a very Beautiful and must visit place.when we first enter into the Island,we can see lot of coconut trees,it looks like a coconut park,so that we can feel good to walk under this coconut trees.After crossing the coconut park,we can see the Island with very beautiful rocks near water.

Then on the other side of the island we can notice that there was no sand on the shore but just beautiful and ancient shell,so that we can collect lot of shells which ever we want and keep it in our sweet homes as showcase.

Everything on the island, the greenery, rocks, the blue waters was just the right invitation for a photographer. Its very dangerous to get into the sea,beacuse of its deepness.we can spend 4-5 hrs in the Island,and december is the nice time to visit this place.

How to reach St.Mary's Island

BY BUS:- We can reach St.Mary's Island by buses,private vehicles from Mangalore to Udupi.Then from Udupi the fishing harbour is just 6km away.After reaching fishing Harbour,we should get into the boats in harbour to reach the Island.

BY FLIGHT:- The nearest Airport to St.Mary's Island is Mangalore Airport.

Near by hotels to stay

There are no hotels to stay in St.Mary's Island,so that we can stay in Udupi which is 6km away,or else we can stay in Mangalore.

Entrance fees and others

There is no entances fees to get into Island.But we should pay 100rs to climb the boat in fishing harbour to reach St.Mary's Island.
