How to prepare Soft Idlis - no soda please!!

Idli is not only popular breakfast in South India , but through out India and other parts of Asia.It is rich in vitamin B-complex,Calcium,Iron,Magnesium etc..It's healthy and very easy to prepare(less ingredients).

Ingredients Required:
1)Normal rice(sona masoori/Idli rice) - 1 glass
2)Boiled rice - half a glass
3)Beaten rice-less than half a glass
4)Black gram - half a glass

Step 1:Soaking
Soak Normal rice+Boiled rice+Beaten rice
Soak Black gram separately
leave this for 6-7 hours

Step 2 :Grinding
Grind Normal rice+Boiled rice+Beaten rice
Grind Black gram separately
You can either use mixer or grinder for grinding.I normally use mixer.

Step 3: Fermenting
Add the batter to the container which has tight lid.
Keep the container in warm and dry place.If it is not summer wrap the container with 2-3 thick clothes so that batter is fermented properly.

Step 4: Preparation of Idlis
Now for the fermented batter add little salt
grease moulds of idli stand with oil and pour the batter into the moulds
Add water in the cooker , place idli stand inside it and close the lid.
Steam for 20 minutes

Now Idlis are ready....Hmmm...Soft and Yummy!! Enjoy with Samber or Chutney!!
